I am a storyteller, content creator/strategist and blogger whose creative flair offers clients a fresh approach to communications, branding and inbound marketing. I’ve worked in L.A. and Toronto, and I’ve served as contributing writer to numerous news, consumer and lifestyle websites, such as LATimes.com, ForbesTravelGuide.com, GlobeandMail.com, NationalPost.com, ELLECanada.com, Chatelaine.com, OrangeCoast.com, ReadersDigest.ca and WomenofInfluence.ca.
My corporate brand experience includes TELUS (I’m a business blogger on a site managed by the social media marketing team), Kodak, Hewlett Packard and Liberty Mutual. My journalism and PR background have proven essential for both content marketing and writing for companies that are overhauling their websites.
At Bell Media’s CTV Television I was Manager of Communications for news, current affairs and documentaries, developing and executing strategic communications campaigns across Canada.
I was at Canada’s largest television network for three years. I drove public relations and publicity strategies that communicated positive and consistent branding for the network. I secured media coverage in the nation’s best-read publications in order to drive eyeballs to programs. I cultivated relationships with traditional media and new media outlets including in the trade, consumer, business, and social media communities.
I directed numerous photo shoots; scripted talking points for executives to prep them for interviews; wrote speeches, news releases, ratings releases (that were, frankly, the bane of my existence); and prepared electronic press kits; organized press junkets and press conferences; managed talent interviews and publicity trips; pitched umpteen stories.
A particularly memorable time for me was the cross-country tour with the morning show that began in Vancouver, B.C. and ended in St. John’s, Newfoundland. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Cape Spear and the whitecaps breaking on the Atlantic Ocean. Or the feeling of ice pelting my face. But I wouldn’t change a thing.
